The nonprofit San Marino League presents “Spring Into Art,” its sixth juried exhibition and sale, March 26-27. Peruse more than 150 juried paintings available for purchase, as well as original 3D creations such as glass art, jewelry, ceramics, pottery and sculpture. Nine featured artists: Peter Adams, Sid Bingham, Karl Dempwolf, Wayne Hunt, Brent Jensen, Joan Kahn, Michael Obermeyer, Jason Situ, Thalia Stratton. Proceeds benefit the ArtCenter College of Design and the Japanese Garden at the Huntington. Purchase a general admission ticket in advance from the Huntington to attend the event. L.A. County Yarn Crawl: Lovers of yarn get on the road to visit independent women-owned yarn shops, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. March 24-27. Stores have a variety of activities planned including ideas for creating with yarn, free patterns, yarn sales and trunk shows. Friendship Garden Club plant sale: Choose from among a wide variety of plants, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. March 24. Admission is free. Proceeds from the plant sale will support the club’s philanthropies including scholarships to Mount San Antonio College and Cal Poly Pomona plant science departments, and the the United States Forest Service’s “Pennies for Pines” program. The Friendship Garden Club was founded in 1949. Members meet on the fourth Thursday of the month from September to May at the Covina Woman’s Club. Benton Museum of Art Pomona College: Ongoing special exhibit: “Each Day Begins with the Sun Rising: Four Artists from Hiroshima” by Japanese contemporary artists, Megumi Fukuda, Taro Furukata, Genki Isayama and Kana Kou, explores the ongoing cultural, environmental and social issues that have endured since the World War II bombings by the United States on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The exhibit, the first for the artists in the United States, has come about through a partnership between Hiroshima City University and Pomona College. The exhibit runs through June 25.
