Man Arrested Following Early Hours Supermarket Burglary In East Cowes - Isle of Wight Radio

Police were called to reports of a burglary at the Co-op in East Cowes in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

Officers attended the scene after a window had been smashed and crate of beer stolen from the store on York Avenue.

A 22-year-old man from East Cowes remains in custody, having earlier been arrested.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:

"Police were called at 4.58am this morning to reports of a burglary at the Co-op, York Avenue.

"The window had been smashed to gain entry and a crate of beer had been stolen.

"A 22-year-old man from East Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling and is currently in police custody."

The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II is taking place as the King led members of the Royal Family in procession behind her coffin to Westminster Abbey.

A teenager had a tooth knocked out after being assaulted in East Cowes.

There are reports of a crash near The Blacksmiths Arms, on the outskirts of Newport.

A car and a cyclist have collided in Newport this morning (Sunday).
