Seasonal changes have led to a shift in the commodities of interest for this report. Asparagus has replaced blueberries, as the number of growing areas for shipping asparagus continues to grow while demand for blueberries is traditionally light in the fall.

Asparagus crossings from Mexico through Arizona, California, and Texas in 2022 are expected to increase. Trading fairly active with prices higher. 11-pound cartons/crates bunched large, mostly 16.75 and standard 14.75-16.75. Peruvian imports of asparagus through South Florida ports of entry in 2022 are expected to remain about the same. Trading moderate. Prices small generally unchanged, others slightly lower. 11-pound cartons bunched green jumbo mostly 24.95-26.95, extra-large mostly 20.75-23.85, and large mostly 18.75-20.75. Supplies are fairly heavy on large and standard, others moderate. Production is increasing in Southern Peru from the Ica region, while the North is beginning to wind down.

The movement of avocado crossings from Mexico through Texas is expected to remain about the same. Trading is moderate. Prices conventional 40-48s and 70s higher, others generally unchanged. Cartons 2-layer Hass 32s mostly 30.25-32.25, 36s mostly 28.25-30.25, 40-48s range between 27.25-30.25. Peruvian imports of avocados through Philadelphia and New York City ports of entry are expected to decrease sharply as most shippers are finished for the season. Supplies are in too few hands to establish a market. Very light supplies are expected to continue. A last F.O.B. report has been issued.

Cucumber movement from Mexico crossings through Otay Mesa, California, is expected to remain about the same. Early trading is very active, late slow. The movement of cucumbers from Mexico crossing through Texas is expected to remain about the same.
