I can’t afford to turn the heating on so built a store out of old pallets to keep warm this winter - it was so cheap | The US Sun

EVERYBODY is looking for new ways to keep energy costs down in the current climate.

Log burners can be a brilliant way to save money, and one woman decided to make her very own log store to ensure she's fully stocked up for the winter.

She took to her Renovating Alvine Cottage TikTok page to share the process of making the log store, which she did using old pallets and fully recyclable materials.

"Who can afford to have the heating on?" she began.

"I decided to make a big log shed, that’s our heating this year.

"Using pallets and bits of scrap wood."

She used old fence panels as "decor" and screws and nails as reinforcements.

"Trust the process!" she wrote halfway through.

In another video, she wrote in the caption: "I’m not giving up! I’ve had some time out but I’m back & it WILL work!"

In that clip, she was seen trying to put some material on top of the roof of the log store.

After hoisting the heavy black material up herself, she got it spread out across the roof before one side slipped, causing the whole thing to fall off.

She was seen with her head in her hands as she said: "Almost gave up, but kept going."

She also hit back at those commenting to tell her that she could be charged £40 for using the blue pallets she showed in her video, as they belong to a company.

But responding to the comments, she said that she'd contacted the company and admitted what had happened, to which she was told that she should worry about it.

The log store project is still ongoing, with the woman urging her TikTok followers to keep an eye on her page for the final update.
